Thai Foot Massage

Thai foot massage is the application of pressure onto particular areas of the soles of the feet. A reflex action in another part of the body is stimulated by the manipulation of each specific area.

Foot reflexology massage uses hands, fingers, thumbs, knuckles, and a rounded wooden stick with lotion or oil. The benefits of a Thai Foot massage are increased circulation in the feet and the legs. It is known to improve lymphatic drainage which can help with swollen ankles.

There are reports of relief from stress, back and other chronic pain, plantar fasciitis, allergies, high blood pressure, fibromyalgia, gout, migraine, arthritis, diabetes, kidney, and digestive problems. It’s a great treatment for both men and women and for those who may not enjoy other forms of massage. It may be suitable for pregnant women who are past the first trimester, and without medical complications.

There are some medical conditions where it may not be possible to carry out treatment, which is why a full consultation is carried out before commencing. This also allows the treatment to be tailored to your own needs. If you have any serious medical conditions or take medication, it is advisable to check with your doctor before making an appointment.

This foot massage technique dates back more than two thousand years, originating in China, and is seen all over Thailand today. Treatment includes working on ‘Sen’ lines, which are from the Ayurvedic tradition and are the equivalent to the meridians of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

The techniques of Thai Foot Massage are thought to stimulate and open these energy channels, leaving you feeling relaxed, balanced and invigorated.  Thai Foot Massage is great for tired or swollen feet, improving circulation and encouraging lymph movement in the feet and lower legs, and improving flexibility. If you have tried reflexology, you will love this Thai treatment but will be surprised at how different the techniques feel. This 45-minute treatment consists of a foot and lower leg massage using fingers, thumbs, knuckles, and a rounded wooden stick using organic grapeseed oil and ending with a foot massage using an intensive tea tree and peppermint foot lotion.
